Do you want to gain higher grades in school?

As students, you and I have to read many books, have to comprehend their contents and have to stick them in our memory in a limited time. You can do this effectively if you understand some facts about human memory and improve your reading skill. Because by knowing about human memori in improving your reading skill you will understand the lesson quickly and memorize it rapidly. Then you will get higher grades and become a better students.

Now we will learn about the nature of forgetting. The research indicated that not all materials of lesson forgotten at the same rate. As an example, a story is more easy to remember than other subject. And, for a particular lesson, not all students forget at the same rate too.

Interestingly, the prime factor is not superiority of their memory but this phenomena is more affected by students learning habits and their attitude to a particular lesson, he or she, tend more easy to stick this lesson to his or her memory. On the oter hand, if a students don’t like a subject, he or she tend more difficilt to stick this subject matter in his or her mind.

After we understand the nature of forgetting, what can we do to attack this difficulty? First at all, a student have to develop intersest to a lesson and intent to get through understanding and to remember the lesson.
The second method is by distributed learning. The meaning of distributed learning is instead trying to master the entire lesson at one time, distributed the laerning over a number short time period.

A similar task may interfere with the prevous learning. For example in memorysing a poem. There will be more rapid forgetting if its is followed immediately by study of another poem than if some other activity follow. So, a students may well reward hmself with a brief period of rest efter finishing a lesson and before starting a new one.
Then, when we’ll read the lesson book, use Survey-Question-Read-Recite and Review (SQ3R) methode. Before we read a a lesson book, we surveying this book by glance over the heading in the chapter to see the few big points which will be developed. Read also the summary paragraph. This is shall be done only in minutes. Then, turn the paragraph heading into question (Q). After that, read (R) the book to search the answer of the question.

After reading a headedsection, turn away from your book and recite (R) the answer of your question with your own words with jotting cite phrasses in outline from on a sheet of paper.

When a chapter of the book has bee read, review the contents of this chapter by look over your notes to get over al view of the points you have read. Then, chech your memory by covering up the notes and tryng to recall the main points. After that, expose each major point and try recall the subpoits listed under it.
